The joy of knowing a person who touches your heart is indeed great. And this is exactly the testimony of those who have had the opportunity of interacting with Mrs. Helen Howell-Fernandez during her tenure of 25 years at Fort Convent.
Ms. Helen did the Trained Teachers Certificate (TTC) from Sacred Heart Training College, Bangalore after completing her S.S.C. She joined Convent of Jesus and Mary in June 1998 as a Pre-KG teacher. She became the Supervisor of the Primary Section in September 2004 and retired in November 2010. However, she was granted an extension until October 2013.
To those who interacted with her, she came across as a person who was concerned about the welfare of the institution. Her first priority was the child entrusted to her care and “Fort Convent” had a very special, inseparable place in her life. She was always the first person to reach school and the last to leave. She was often in school even on holidays.
As supervisor of the primary section, she was meticulous with her work, keeping the records clear and well maintained. The children went to her without fear and were often surrounding her table sharing their little stories with her.
As she moves on after an accomplished career and looks at new avenues to lend her special touch, we wish her the very best for the future.
